Sivan 5784 - Shavuot!

Shalom to All,

We greet you all and pray that your soul is prospering as you walk and commune with the Lord. It is immensely comforting to know that we are never alone as His Spirit lives inside of us. He talks with us in that quiet voice and lights our path with His Word. How blessed we are! And we are entering the month of Sivan.

Shavuot, or the Feast of Pentecost, takes place in the month of Sivan. In this month, HaShem came to Mt. Sinai and gave His instructions – or His Law – to Moses. Then in the book of Acts we see His Holy Spirit descends on the Jewish people and proselytes that were in Jerusalem waiting for this day on the very same day that the Law was given, some 1,500 years later! Yeshua had foretold this day and told his disciples to remain in Jerusalem, saying: *Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father which He said, you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.

*John 14:25-26 These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

At Pentecost, the power of the Holy Spirit and the ability to be witnesses of the Gospel was given to believers. The Holy Spirit is alive and teaches us and brings the Words of the Lord to our remembrance. He leads and guides us, and we need Him every day. It is His guidance that will show us our purpose and give us the power to fulfill it. He will guide us even through the trying times of the calamities that fill today’s headlines and as we see the world turning against the Lord and His people.

On the Biblical calendar, every month is aligned with one of the tribes of Israel. The month of Sivan is aligned with the tribe of Zebulun. When Zebulun received their allotment of land, they were dismayed, as it was mountainous and rocky and would not grow good crops, so they were also given the bounty of the seas to increase their provision. From the seas would come the aquatic creature from which the blue die for the tzitzi would come!

This is huge as it ties together the Law given at Mt Sinai and the Sprit given in Jerusalem, as the blue threads of the tzitzi remind us of who we are and what we are to do. As believers, we are to be unique – a holy people separated to the Lord, for His purposes. Moses blessed the Israelites saying; 'Call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness:'

The Holy spirit gives us the power to live that righteous life as defined by following the instructions of the Lord. As *Titus 2:12 records: Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.

News Today

People who understand the current political and spiritual climate of today, tell us there are events planned for the late summer and fall that will bring violence and destruction to our streets. Then we have the election in early November which could also cause untold chaos and disruption in our nation. At the same time, Israel is surrounded by nations that want to see her demise, and Hamas lives in her midst. We are living in Biblically prophetic times, and we need the Holy Spirit now to give us wisdom in navigating these times. And as Rabbi Shaul said, we must pray without ceasing! Pray for Israel and do good whenever we can. Love the Lord with all your heart, and Love people. This is our purpose. The Lord created us to be alive for the history being made in our day, and we need not fear. These are the 'days of Elijah,' and righteousness will be restored. We are alive to help bring that restoration. Be encouraged! Look up!
